Energy

Orr & Reno’s Energy Team includes former state regulators who have extensive experience with a broad range of energy-related matters, including regulatory compliance, and the acquisition, permitting, operation and sale of facilities and other interests. We have decades of combined experience representing these interests before various tribunals, including the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission, the New Hampshire Site Evaluation Committee, and the New Hampshire courts. We work closely with other practice groups, including Corporate, Litigation and Real Estate, to provide clients with our full range of expertise.

We regularly assist clients in the development of energy projects and provide comprehensive support in connection with acquiring, financing, siting, permitting, constructing and taxation of new and existing energy facilities. We routinely represent energy companies and other parties before the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission in proceedings involving rate increases, special contracts, transmission issues, merger and acquisition approvals, energy efficiency and other energy policies, rulemaking, franchise expansion, and financing approvals. We have also assisted numerous clients such as developers, investors and host municipalities in navigating the complex energy facility permitting process before the New Hampshire Site Evaluation Committee.

Our clients have included commercial and industrial energy customers, electric and gas utilities, competitive electricity providers, merchant generators, competitive electric and gas aggregators, commercial, industrial and residential customers, lenders, and owners and developers of renewable energy projects, including commercial scale wind energy, hydroelectric and solar facilities, and interstate natural gas pipelines.  We provide strategic support and a common-sense approach to addressing sophisticated and complex energy-related issues.

Orr & Reno’s full-service team can help you navigate next steps.
