Attorneys Geiger, Smith Featured in NH Bar Association Energy Program

Orr & Reno attorney Susan Geiger will be a featured presenter and attorney Maureen Smith will serve as the moderator for an upcoming NH Bar Association (NHBA) program on April 30, 2021. The one-hour program, entitled “Renewable Energy Facility Siting”, is part of the NHBA’s Continuing Legal Education Catalog and will provide an overview of state and local processes, approval criteria, and considerations for siting non-residential renewable energy facilities in NH.

Geiger’s presentation will focus on the NH Site Evaluation Committee approval criteria.  She and two other attorneys will describe two recent solar energy projects to illustrate the various legal and practical considerations that can steer renewable energy project development.  Geiger has represented numerous renewable energy project developers in successfully siting commercial-scale projects in the state and is a former member of both the NH Site Evaluation Committee and the NH Public Utilities Commission.

As program moderator, Smith will facilitate panel discussion and questions from attendees. As the chair of Orr & Reno’s Energy & Environmental practice group, Smith represents business and individual clients and collaborates with a team of energy, environmental, and real estate attorneys in a broad range of regulatory matters including project development, acquisition, siting, permitting, regulatory compliance and enforcement.
