Attorney Eber Authors Legal Guide for Students

Orr & Reno Attorney Jennifer Eber has helped author Beyond High School: A Guide to Your Rights and Responsibilities. The guide provides a summary of legal issues that graduating high school seniors need to know as they become adults.  The book also features a great list of resources that students can utilize to obtain more information on their legal rights and responsibilities.

Eber first was involved in this project more than 20 years ago when she was instrumental in writing and compiling the first publication of Beyond High School.  Now, with the help of Robin Knippers, Law Related Education Coordinator at the New Hampshire Bar Association, Eber, has updated the guide for its current publication and distribution in May 2018.  Jennifer Pinckney, Director of Strategic Communications, at the New Hampshire Bar Association, was also a great asset to the project.  In addition, Orr & Reno Attorney Laura Hartz, along with other teachers and lawyers, assisted in proofing the book.  Beyond High School features art work from local New Hampshire students at Manchester Memorial High School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

The Beyond High School guide was first published in 1996 and distributed to graduating high school seniors across New Hampshire. Over the years, it has been updated and available on the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Law Related Education web pages.

As part of civics education, the New Hampshire Bar Association will be having “A Lawyer & Judge in Every School” where lawyers and judges visit New Hampshire high school classrooms between April 15 and June 1. The Beyond High School guide will be available for lawyers and judges to distribute as part of their visit to classes.

If you know of a school or particular class that would be a good fit for such curriculum or are a lawyer/judge who would like to participate in “A Lawyer & Judge in Every School”  please contact Robin Knippers at reknippers@nhbar.org.
