Laura Jean Hartz

Laura helps businesses and non-profits meet their legal requirements and goals.  She particularly enjoys working in environmental and energy law, land use, immigration, and business law.

Past Experience

During law school, Laura worked as an intern at the New Hampshire Supreme Court and at the Conservation Law Foundation. She was an articles editor for the Vermont Law Review. She also taught legal writing as a Dean’s Fellow and served as a teaching assistant for public law and as a research assistant for the environmental law librarian.

Before entering law school, Laura consulted for environmental and agricultural organizations including the Natural Resources Council of Maine, Northeast Farm Access, Downstream Strategies, and Organic Valley Dairy Cooperative. In these roles she led project teams, solicited grant funding, wrote technical reports and case studies, and analyzed governmental policies.


Laura enjoys spending her free time outside: hiking, biking, canoeing, birding, and gardening. She is a passionate cook and once worked in the kitchen at the original Moosewood Restaurant in Ithaca, New York.
