H-1B Update – April 3, 2017

Today is the first day USCIS is accepting the H-1B cap petitions. This week Immigration expects about 250,000 for 85,000 slots. Good luck to all who have submitted H-1B cap petitions!

Immigration has suspended the use of premium processing for six months for all H-1B petitions – whether cap or cap-exempt, extensions, or portability. This creates many issues, particularly for J-1 waiver physicians. Our office will be working with the U.S. Senators in New Hampshire to make them aware of the difficulties this presents to employers and employees.
