Canada Eases Path to Citizenship for International Students

According to The PIE News[1], Canada’s newly elected liberal government has introduced changes to the country’s path to citizenship for international students. The legislation would reduce stay requirements and allow students to count 50 percent of their study time toward residency petitions. The changes are part of a larger effort from the liberal government to make the country more competitive in the recruitment of international students and more welcoming to immigrants.

Comment: Could this affect the number of international students who choose to come the U.S. to study? Canada is making an effort to invite and retain international students while the U.S. seems prone to putting up blocks.
