Attorney Smith Presents at NECPUC Symposium

June 12, 2017

Orr & Reno’s Maureen Smith delivered a presentation on “Emerging Legal Ethics” during the 70th Annual New England Conference of Public Utilities Commissioners (NECPUC) Symposium, held recently at the Omni Mount Washington Resort.

Smith, alongside legal counsel for Liberty Utilities, discussed the ethics of cyber security, discrimination and communications with represented and non-represented persons. Attendees of the three-day symposium included energy professionals and state utility regulators from the entire New England region.

Established in 1947, The NECPUC is a non-profit corporation that provides regional regulatory assistance on matters of common concern to public utilities commissions of the six New England states. The NECPUC addresses issues challenging the electricity, gas, telecommunications and water industries.

As a member of Orr & Reno’s Environmental and Energy practice groups, Smith represents business and individual clients in a broad range of environmental matters spanning air, water, wetlands, shoreland and waste issues, as well as energy project developers and utilities in siting and environmental permitting and compliance issues.
